Eukaryotic transcription: an interlaced network of transcription factors and chromatin-modifying machines
Article Abstract:
A network of proposed linkages characterizes the relationship between chromatin structure and the regulation of transcription factors by RNA polymerase. The protein subunit complex is an integral and equimolar component of the mediator and holoenzyme of the RNA polymerase II complex and chromatin remodeling machines. A part of the RNA polymerase II functions as a large complex called RNA polymerase II holoenzyme while the core chromatin assembly reaction is mediated by a core histone chaperone and an ATP-utilizing chromatin assembly and remodeling factor.

What's up and down with histone deacetylation and transcription?
Article Abstract:
Histone deacetylases are part of complex proteins which regulates transcription, and therefore have the ability of both activating and repressing gene expression. Histone deacetylases like Rpd3, HDAC1, and HDAC2 establish link with sequence-specific DNA-binding transcriptional repressors via Sin3 (a yeast protein) and N-Cor/SMRT corepressor factors. Loss of yeast deacetylase Rpd3 also results in inhibition of a transcriptional activator thus, repressing gene expression.
