Radar-based monitoring of marbled murrelets
Article Abstract:
Research describing movement patterns of Marbled Murrelets (Brachyramphus marmoratus) in the Olympic Peninsular of Washington is presented. Radar monitored daily, monthly and annual patterns of abundance are examined.

Abundance and distribution of marbled and Kittlitz's murrelets in southcentral and southeast Alaska
Article Abstract:
A survey of marbled and Kittlitz's murrelets, Brachyramphus marmoratus and B. brevirostris, respectively, in Lower Cook Inlet, Prince William Sound and Southeast Alaska estimated murrelets in Lower Cook Inlet at 58,227 +/- 16,058 in the summer and 11,627 +/- 7,410 in the eastern half in winter. In Prince William Sound in four summers, mean estimates of murrelets were at 113,652 +/- 25,900 and 24,979 +/- 11,710 in four winters. In Southeast Alaska in summer 1994, murrelets were estimated at 687,061 +/- 201,162. Southeast Alaska had the largest population densities.

Evidence of male-bias in capture samples of marbled murrelets from genetic studies in British Columbia
Article Abstract:
Marbled Murrelets were captured over four years using a floating mist-net system, and a night lighting method to determine their sex. A newly developed molecular technique was used to sex the birds as Marbled Murrelets are sexually monomorphic. There was a significant male-bias in murrelets captured with the mist nets, but there was not male bias when using the night lighting method.
