Expression of surrogate light chain receptors is restricted to a late stage in pre-B cell differentiation
Article Abstract:
A study devises a successful method for generating a panel of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against exposed epitopes of the native surrogate light chain proteins on human and mouse pre-B cells. In addition, the MAbs are used to define surrogate light chain expression as a function of cellular differentiation along the B cell axis. Specifically, cell surface expression is restricted to a relatively late stage in normal pre-B cell differentiation wherein receptor cross-linkage does not affect cell growth or the differentiation itself.

Cooperation of BMP7 and SHH in the induction of forebrain ventral midline cells by prechordal mesoderm
Article Abstract:
A study using vitro assays of cell differentiation was conducted on the induction of forebrain ventral midline cells by prechordal mesoderm. The findings indicate that ventral midline cells develop distinct identities in response to the various signaling activities of underlying mesoderm. Signals from prechordal mesoderm were responsible for the differentiation of rostral diencephalic ventral midline cells while notochord induces floor plate cells caudally.

Induction of cell differentiation by human immunodeficiency virus 1 vpr
Article Abstract:
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) viral protein R (vpr) is conserved within all genomes of HIV-1 and HIV-2. Rhabdomyosarcoma cell lines were transfected with the vpr gene to determine its function in HIV pathogenesis. The results showed that vpr could induce cell growth inhibition and differentiation. These results indicate that vpr is a regulatory protein that plays a role in cell proliferation and differentiation.
