Fertile hybrids in two genera of wallabies: Petrogale and Thylogale
Article Abstract:
Hybridization is common in marsupials, particularly in the rock wallabies, Petrogale. The genus presents an exceptional opportunity to study the effect of karyotypes on fertility by analysing synaptonemal complexes. A study describing the type of hybrids obtained from Petrogale and a closely related macropod species, Thylogale, is presented. It is demonstrated that fertile hybrids may result from differently genotyped and karyotyped parental species and the findings are consistent with Haldane's law.

Cytoplasmically inherited albinism in peanut seedlings
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted on albinism in peanut seedlings. The seedlings came from selfing variegated peanut plants. Observations of F2 and F3 populations from three subspecific cultivar combinations of peanuts confirmed a 60:3 trigenic rato for nuclear albinos. Results revealed an independent cytoplasmic inheritance for albinism in peanut seedlings. The mode of inheritance due to gametic recombination was also determined.
