Four glucosyltransferases, GtfJ, GtfK, GtfL and GtfM, from Streptococcus salivarius ATCC 25975
Article Abstract:
Streptococcus salivarius produces four glucosyltransferases(GTFs) which have different kinetic and biosynthetic properties. GtfJ is primer-dependent, GtfL and GtfM are primer-independent while GtfK is primer-stimulated. GtfJ and GtfL produce an insoluble glucan while GtfK, GtfM produce a soluble dextran. The GtfK, GtfL and GtfM glucans are capable of acting as primers. High concentrations of dextran T-10 stimulate the activity of GtfJ, GtfM and GtfK but inhibit the activity of GtfL.

Genetic and biochemical characterization of PrtA, an RTX-like metalloprotease from Photorhabdus
Article Abstract:
Research shows that The secretory protein PrtA from Photorhabdus is a repeats-in-toxin (RTX) alkaline zinc metalloprotease and exhibits high affinity for casein and gelatin. Data reveal that prtA gene carries RTX repeated motifs and encodes a protease similar to some bacterial protease. Photorhabdus is a symbiont in nematodes that invade insects and PrtA degrades insect tissues.

Environmental regulation of glycosidase and peptidase production by Streptococcus gordonii FSS2
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate that synthesis of glycosidase enzymes in Streptococcus gordonii FSS2 is reduced under acid growth conditions but enhanced when grown in serum medium. Data also indicate that the enzyme synthesis may be regulated by glucose catabolite repression.
