From modulator to mediator: rapid effects of BDNF on ion channels
Article Abstract:
Discussing the findings that establish BDNF as a potent modulator and a direct mediator of postsynaptic ion channel conductance in the central nervous system. BDNF emerges not only as a potent neuromodulator but also as a substance with fast excitatory action on neurons, which acutely controls resting membrane potential, neuronal excitability, synaptic transmission and participates in the induction of synaptic and morphological plasticity.

How consistent are expression chip platforms?
Article Abstract:
DNA arrays are now widely used in academia and industry, and expression profiling is recognised as a major tool for basic research as well as for drug development. It is also likely, in the near future, that DNA arrays will be used in clinical laboratories for diagnostic and prognostic purposes.
