Preparation, characterization, and optimization of an in vitro C30 carotenoid pathway
Article Abstract:
The C30 carotenoid pathway reconstructed in vitro is optimized for the synthesis of 4,4'-diapophytoene (DAP) from isopentenyl pyrophosphate (IPP) and gamma,gamma-dimethylallyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP). The technique led to overcome product instability and resulted in a nearly 100% conversion of IPP and DMAPP into DAP, thereby providing a new route to the high-yield synthesis of isoprenoids.

Optimization of procedures for counting viruses by flow cytometry
Article Abstract:
In order to optimize the flow cytometric detection and enumeration of free viruses, a detailed evaluation of a broad range of factors that potentially affect the quality of fluorescent signal and subsequently the counting efficiency is presented. The tests are performed on a variety of different viruses, including four representatives of marine phytoplankton viruses.
