Gene flow in colonizing Hippodamia variegata ladybird beetle populations
Article Abstract:
The colonizing Hippodamia variegata ladybird beetle populations show 97% variance in gene frequency. Field-collected beetles exhibit more average gene diversity at polymorphic loci compared to those cultured in laboratory. The genetic differentiation among populations from different geographical regions is high, probably due to drift. Wright's island model suggests that average gene flow is equal to mean 1.1, reproducing immigrants per population per generation.

Gene flow in populations of the seven-spotted lady beetle, Coccinella septempunctata
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted on the gene diversity of North American Coccinella septempunctata (seven-spotted lady beetle) populations. Sixteen of the species' 28 putative loci were found to be polymorphic and gene diversity for the loci was determined to be 0.1598 plus or minus 0.041. Gene frequencies were approximated at eight polymorphic loci. Gene flow was observed to be generally unrestricted.

Breeding structure of Glossina pallidipes populations evaluated by mitochondrial variation
Article Abstract:
Mitochondrial DNA diversity was examined at four loci in natural populations of the tsetse fly Glossina pallidipes. There was a high rate of population subdivision in the Ethiopian and Kenya populations, while the Zimbabwe and Zambia populations showed less variation and differentiation.
