Genetic and linkage analysis of isozyme polymorphisms in flax
Article Abstract:
The inheritance and linkage relationships of seven isozyme polymorphisms of flax or Linum was studied as an initial step in developing its genetic map. Diaphorase, phosphoglucomutase and acid phosphatase were represented by codominant alleles Dia1, Pgm1 ans Ap-1 while acid phosphatase, leucine amino-peptidase and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase were encoded by three polymorphic loci, Ap-2, Lap1 and Pgd1 each with recessive null alleles. A 7th polymorphic locus, Lap2, encoded an additional leucine aminopeptidase variant with a missing band. Loci Dia1 and Pgm1 were linked about 28 cM apart while the 16 additional pairs segregated independently.

The inheritance of variegated seed color and palmitic acid in flax
Article Abstract:
The linkage relationship between variegated seed color and palmitic acid composition in flax, Linum usitatissimum, was investigated using two lines of flax and the subsequent crosses up to the third filial generation of seeds. Results indicate that the two traits, seed color and palmitic acid in the seeds, are independently inherited. This implies that the two traits can be selected in various crosses and that one or the other can be used as a phenotypic marker.

Inheritance and linkage of isozyme loci in the basket willow (Salix viminalis L.)
Article Abstract:
Genetic analysis using statistical method of testing conformity with Mendelian mode of inheritance and electrophoretic resolution of proteins derived from full grown leaves of Salix viminalis L. were done to determine the breeding structure of the basket willow species. The results confirmed Mendelian segregation patterns in all the 11 polymorphic isozyme loci that have been identified. It was also found that among the 11, four groups are weakly linked.
