Genetic selection scheme for isolation of signal transduction pathway mutants
Article Abstract:
Isolation of mutations in the pathway can help in genetic characterization of a signal transduction pathway. A strategy, based on resistance to chemical flucytosine for the identification of mutation in a designated pathway was developed, which can be used to obtain mutants defective in cell-specific expression of a particular pathway.

In vivo transduction of an Stx-encoding phage in ruminants
Article Abstract:
The ability of a kanamycin-marked Stx phage to move into a commensal, ovine Escherichia coli strain in the ruminant gastrointestinal tract was assessed. Transduction was detected in 19 out of 24 sheep tested and that the rate of transduction did not increase with subtherapeutic doses of the quinolone antibiotic enrofloxacin.

Potential use of toxic thermolabile proteins to study protein quality control systems
Article Abstract:
The study report about SulA, an Escherichia coli with its thermally unstable properties and capacity to form aggregates at elevated temperatures is presented. Results suggest that it could be useful to study selection of isolates with mutated protein quality control system.
