A low-molecular-mass protein from Methylococcus capsulatus (Bath) is responsible for the regulation of formaldehyde dehydrogenase activity in vitro
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a low-molecular-mass protein from Methylococcus capsulatus that influences the regulation of formaldehyde dehydrogenase activity in vitro. Substrate specificity was determined during the presence and absence of modifin for a range of aldehydes and alcohols. High performance liquid chromatography was utilized to determine amounts of formate and acetate generated in enzyme assays. Experimental results indicated that the protein supports no activity towards formaldehyde.

Structure and function of cysBJIH gene cluster in the purple sulphur bacterium Thiocapsa roseopersicina
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the characteristics and role of a cysBJIH gene cluster in the sulphur bacterium Thiocapsa roseopersicina. T. roseopersicina was grown phototrophically at 500 lx. Experimental results indicated that the gene cluster supported four structural genes homologous to cysB, CysJI and CysH of enterobacteria. Findings also showed that it encoded a transcriptional regulator protein.
