Growth of Vibrio anguillarum in salmon intestinal mucus
Article Abstract:
The characteristics of protein expression during the growth of Vibrio anguillarum in salmon intestinal mucus were analyzed to determine the pathogenesis of vibriosis in fishes. Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and fluorography indicated the presence of mucus-inducible proteins (Mips) and mucus-repressible proteins during the exponential growth of Vibrio anguillarum in salmon mucus. Furthermore, the Mips were localized in the cell envelope indicating the effects of specific nutritional conditions on the expression of different proteins by Vibrio anguillarum.

Molecular-beacon multiplex real-time PCR assay for detection of Vibrio cholerae
Article Abstract:
A multiplex real-time PCR assay using molecular beacons (MB) is developed for the simultaneous detection of four important Vibrio cholerae virulence and regulatory target genes. The high specificity and sensitivity of this assay, surpassing previous PCR assays, suggest its usefulness in the sensitive and cost-effective monitoring of environmental and drinking water samples.

Chemoattraction of Vibrio fischeri to serine, nucleosides and N- acetylneuraminic acid, a component of squid light- organ mucus
Article Abstract:
Chemotaxis of Vibrio fischeri to a number of potential attractants is analyzed. The findings stated that the bacterium migrated toward serine and most sugars tested V. fisher also exhibited the unusual ability to migrate to nucleosides and nucleotides as well as to N- acetylneuraminic acid.
