Hemostatic, inflammatory, and fibroblast responses are blunted in mice lacking gelsolin
Article Abstract:
The gelsolin, an 82 kDa actin-binding protein, regulates the motility of cells which help in hemostasis, inflammation, and wound healing. The gelsolin is not present in embryonic cells and the process of actin filament dynamics is not required for motility in the early embryogenesis. The transgenic gelsolinnull (Gsn-) mice were produced for the vivo experiments on the functioning of gelsolin. The Gsn-mice show less changed platelet shape and this led to more continuous bleeding.

Activation of phosphoinositide 3-OH kinase by the alpha6beta4 integrin promotes carcinoma invasion
Article Abstract:
The alpha6beta4 integrin is shown to promote carcinoma invasion by targeting phosphoinositide-3 OH kinase (P13K) activity. Alpha6beta4 ligation stimulated more P13K activity than B1 integrin ligation. The formation of lamellae in carcinoma cells required alpha6beta4-regulated P13K activity, and the small Rac G protein is needed downstream of P13K for invasion.

Thrombin receptor ligation and activation Rac uncap actin filament barbed ends through phosphoinositide synthesis in permeabilized human platelets
Article Abstract:
D3, D4 polyphosphoinositides and the thrombin receptor-activating peptide(TRAP), GTP and GTPgammaS uncap actin filaments (F-actin) in resting permeabilized platelets. On the other hand GDPbetaS inhibits TRAP-induced F-actin uncapping, and PI(4,5)p2 suppresses this inhibition.
