Homologous recombination as the main mechanism for DNA integration and cause of rearrangements in the filamentous ascomycete Ashbya gossypii
Article Abstract:
Transformations of DNA in the fungus Ashbya gossypii revealed that the rearrangements between inverted and direct repeats present in the plasmid are homologous. Studies on many filamentous ascomycetes have shown a number of transforming DNA routes and some posttransformational alterations. The observations in Ashbya gossypii are rare and transformations with five constructs exhibit integration at the homologous locus with a background of nonhomologous recombination.

Stability of tandem repeats in the Drosophila melanogaster Hsr-omega nuclear RNA
Article Abstract:
A nuclear ribonuclic acid with more than 5 kb of tandem repeat sequences is produced by the Drosophila melanogaster Hsr-omega locus. These locus have peculiar characteristics and exhibit concerted evolution identical to the of the classical satellite DNAs. The monomer is a 280 binding protein and exhibit differences in the single nucleotide sequences.
