Identification of 16S ribosomal DNA-defined bacterial populations at a shallow submarine hydrothermal vent near Milos Island (Greece)
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the bacterial populations at the vent site. The identification and the phylogenetic analysis of these populations have been carried out.

Strain-specific identification of probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus with randomly amplified polymorphic DNA-derived PCR primers
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize strain-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers for Lactobacillus rhamnosus. The phenol-cloroform extraction technique was utilized to isolate chromosomal DNA while nucleotide and protein sequence homology searchers were obtained with the FASTA and BLAST programs. Results indicated the feasibility of determining a bacterial strain with PCR primers derived from random amplified polymorphic DNA markers.
