CPEB proteins control two key steps in spermatogenesis in C. elegans
Article Abstract:
Cytoplasmic polyadenylation element binding (CPEB) proteins have been found to regulate two key steps in spermatogenesis in Caenorhabditis elegans. Biological roles of all identifiable CPEB homologs in C. elegans were looked at. Two CPEB proteins were seen to have separate functions in the germ line, both in spermatogenesis. FOG-1 specifies sperm cell fate. CPB-1 executes that decision.

Multiple RGS proteins alter neural G protein signaling to allow C. elegans to rapidly change behavior when fed
Article Abstract:
Regulators of G protein signaling (RGS proteins) have been studied in Caenorhabditis elegans. Three of the 13 RGS genes analyzed were found to influence egg-laying behavior and two seem to redundantly change signaling to bring on appropriate behavioral responses to feeding.

Identification of in vivo mRNA targets of GLD-1, a maxi-KH motif containing protein required for C. elegans germ cell development
Article Abstract:
In vivo mRNA targets of GLD-1 have been identified. GLD-1 is a maxi-KH motif having protein necessary for Caenorhabditis elegans germ cell development. An immunoprecipitation/subtractive hybridization/cloning method was used to identify 15 mRNAs, putative targets of GLD-1 binding and regulation, with the finding that GLD-1 binds sequences in 5' coding and the 3' untranslated region of rme-2 mRNA.
