Isolation of Y chromosome-specific microsatellites in the horse and cross-species amplification in the genus Equus
Article Abstract:
Y-chromosome microsatellite markers can be effectively isolated by combining representational difference analysis (RDA) with the screen of a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) library in a domestic horse (Equus caballus) showing a single halotype. It helps us to use this knowledge extended to other mammalian species besides humans, with regard to sex-specific differences in ecology and behavior.

Individual-based assessment of population structure and admixture in Austrian, Croatian, and German draught horses
Article Abstract:
Multilocus genotypic information from many microsatellite loci is used for analyzing the conservation status in Austrian, Croatian and German draught horses. A posterior Bayesian analysis has detected differentiation caused by political and geographical factors and the admixture analysis has revealed imprecise classification between populations.
