Intracellular butyryl phosphate and acetyl phosphate concentrations in Clostridium acetobutylicum and their implications for solvent formation
Article Abstract:
The butyryl phosphate (BuP) and acetyl phosphate (AcP) levels in fermentations of Clostridium acetobuylicm wild type (WT), degenerate strain M5, a butyrate kinase (buk) mutant, and a phosphotransacetylase (pta) mutant is determined. The BuP profiles are bimodal, and there is a second peak midway through solventogensis corresponding to acetate reutilization.

A general framework for designing and validating oligomer-based DNA microarrays and its application to Clostridium acetobutylicum
Article Abstract:
A general framework for the creation and validation of oligomer microarrays for any organism with a sequenced genome is presented. The level of probe cross-hybridization in the new microarrays was estimated with the help of degenerated Clostridium acetobutylicum strain M5 lacking the pSOL1 megaplasmid.
