Involvement of ArgR and PepA in the pairing of ColE1 dimer resolution sites
Article Abstract:
The recombination sites of plasmid formation in Escherichia coli were observed for the role of ArgR in the multimerization of plasmids. Plasmids in E. coli form dimers through the action of the chromosome-encoded proteins XerC and XerD as well as the co-factors ArgR and PepA. Observations of intermolecular recombination showed the pairing is not governed by topological structure but can be repressed when a recombination site is found in cis or trans position.

Distribution of repC plasmid-replication sequences among plasmids and isolates of Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae from field populations
Article Abstract:
RFLP, PCR-RFLP and plasmid profile analysis were used to investigate the distribution of four types of related plasmid replication genes (repC), in field populations of Rhizobium leguminosarum. The results indicated the compatibility of the four repC classes. The transfer of a Tn5-labelled plasmid with a group IV repC sequence, into field isolates, showed that group IV sequences were incompatible with each other, although compatible with other repC groups.

A novel system with positive selection for the chromosomal integration of replicative plasmid DNA in Corynebacterium glutamicum
Article Abstract:
Strains of Corynebacterium glutamicum that feature replicative plasmids integrated into the chromosome can be generated using a novel system. In this method, plasmid DNAs were integrated through the entry of a second plasmid and the subsequent selection for the maintenance of both plasmids. The developed system was considered rare due to the forced coexistence of two incompatible plasmids.
