Local variations in the distribution and prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato genomospecies in Ixodes ricinus ticks
Article Abstract:
The distribution of Borrelia burgdornferi sensu lato genomospecies in Ixodes ricinus ticks was analyzed to determine the influence of geographic location, habitat vegetation and habitat host cenosis. Analysis of adult and nymphal Ixodes ricinus ticks collected from five sites within Killarney National Park, Ireland indicated the role of a heterogeneous habitat in increasing the prevalence of Borrelia burgdornferi in ticks. Furthermore, the prevalence of infection among the five sites in Killarney National Park exhibited significant variability.

Longitudinal analysis of tick densities and Borrelia, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia infections of Ixodes ricinus ticks in different habitat areas in The Netherlands
Article Abstract:
The reverse blot analysis (RBA) is used to investigate the tick densities and infection with Borrelia burgdorferi and Anaplasma and Ehrlichia species found in different habitat areas in The Netherlands. The analysis has suggested that the tick densities and infection rates are different in different areas and habitats separated by heather area and forests.
