Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies in Ixodes ricinus ticks in Europe: A metaanalysis
Article Abstract:
The literature on epidemiological studies of Ixodes ricinus ticks infected with Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato is reviewed. The prevelance of different B. burgdorferi sensu lato genospecies was deduced for various regions in Europe but no effect of detection method, tick gender, or collection period were found despite the infection rate which was about two-fold higher in adult ticks than in nymphs.

Molecular identification and analysis of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato in lizards in the Southeastern United States
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine whether wild lizards in the southeastern United States were naturally infected with Lyme borreliae (LB). The high infection prevalence and broad distribution of infection among different lizard species at different sites and at different times of the year suggest that LB spirochetes are established in lizards in the southeastern United States.

Prevalence of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and Anaplasmataceae members in Ixodes ricinus ticks in Alsace, a focus of lyme borreliosis endemicity in France
Article Abstract:
Investigation in 2003-2004 of three cantons in the Alsace region in the northeastern France in order to determine the density of Ixodes ricinus ticks infected by Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and Anaplasmataceae is presented. The rate of tick infection by Anaplasma phagocytophilum is 0.4% and 1.2% in nymphs and adults.
