New findings on evolution of metal homeostasis genes: Evidence from comparative genome analysis of bacteria and arhcaea
Article Abstract:
Four hundred and sixty-five deduced amino acid sequences of hypothetical P(sub IB)-type ATPase genes from the annotated genomes of 188 bacteria and 22 archaea is examined. Results reveal instances of lateral gene transfer involved in the evolution of this locus and highlighted patterns of diversification in conserved functional domains, and suggested possible functions for specific clades within the P(sub IB)-type ATPase phylogeny.

Whole-genome reciprocal BLAST analysis reveals that Planctomycetes do not share an unusually large number of genes with Eukarya and Archaea
Article Abstract:
The genome sequences of Rhodopirellula baltica were used in a series of pairwise reciprocal best hit analysis to evaluate the contested evolutionary position of Planctomycetes. It showed that Planctomycetes do not share an unusually large number of genes with Archaea or Eukarya compared with other bacteria.

16S rRNA phylogenetic investigation of the candidate division "Korarchaeota"
Article Abstract:
An investigation was conducted on the environmental distribution and phylogeny of 'Korarchaeota' a proposed ancient archaeal division by using 16S rRNA gene framework. Korarchaeota-specific primers were designed on the basis of already published sequences and used for screening variety of environments.
