Mechanisms of TGF-beta signaling from cell membrane to the nucleus
Article Abstract:
This review focuses on the molecular mechanisms of transforming growth factor-beta signaling from cellular, biochemical, and structural perspectives of the transforming growth factor-beta pathway functioning in all cell types from Drosophila to human. The signaling mechanism comprises broadly of ligand binding, Smad proteins' activation by phosphorylation, and transcriptional regulation of gene expression.

Structural basis for the function of the beta subunit of the eukaryotic signal recognition particle receptor
Article Abstract:
The crystal structure of one of the components of the signal recognition particle receptor, the SRbeta G protein, reveals that its binding interface overlaps with its own switch 1 region, suggesting that the eucaryotic signal recognition particle receptor is a conditional heterodimer. Data indicate that the GTP/GDP switch cycle of the protein mediates the dimerization.

Multiple cargo binding sites on the COPII subunit Sec24p ensure capture of diverse membrane proteins into transport vesicles
Article Abstract:
Research describes the mechanisms involved in cargo selection by the COPII subunit Sec24 into endoplasm reticulum-derived vesicles. Results identify a site on Sec24p involved in packaging cargo molecules. Data indicate that Sec24p proeins possess multiple independent cargo binding domains, which recognize a diverse set of sorting signals.
