Molecular analysis of the DNA gyrB gene from Myxococcus xanthus
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the cloning of the nucleotide sequence of the gyrB gene of Myxococcus xanthus. Escherichia coli was prepared in Luria broth while DNA sequencing was performed on double-stranded DNA templates by the dideoxynucleotide chain-termination technique. Results suggested that the cloned M. xanthus gene is not a parE homologue. Findings also indicated that novobiocin influences the binding of ATP to GyrB proteins.

Emulsifying activities of purified alasan proteins from Acinetobacter radioresistens KA53
Article Abstract:
Researchers show that the protein component of the alasan bioemulsifier of Acinetobacter radioresistens KA53 is the active component. This should make is easier to determine their structure, leading to commercial uses in bioremediation, oil recovery, the formulation of detergents, cosmetics, herbicides, and food emulsions.

Petroleum pollution bioremediation using water-insoluble uric acid as the nitrogen source
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that Acinetobacter sp. strain OK1, grown in a medium containing crude oil-uric acid, catalyzes biodegradation of petroleum. The uric acid serves as a nitrogen source for the bacterium.
