Molecular analysis of an allozyme cline: alcohol dehydrogenase in Drosophila melanogaster on the east coast of North America
Article Abstract:
Researchers used a high resolution restriction mapping method to analyze the distribution of 113 haplotypes obtained from 44 polymorphic DNA markers inside the alcohol dehydorgenase locus (Adh) area in 1533 individuals from 25 populations in the cline of Drosophila melanogaster on the east coast of North America. A remarkable clinal differentiation exists at the polymorphism influencing the mobility difference causing amino acid substitution between Adh-F and Adh-s alleles.

Characterization of the mus308 gene in Drosophila melanogaster
Article Abstract:
The mus308 gene in Drosophila melanogaster has been localized at 87C9-87D1,2 on the right arm of chromosome three. Ten mutants from this locus had been generated from X-ray mutagenesis and hybrid dysgenesis and their phenotypes analyzed. Aberrant wing positions with reduced flying abilities were found among nitrogen mustard treatment survivors and the increase in embryo mortality due to a maldistribution of nuclear material were also seen.
