Multiple branches of the meiotic recombination pathway contribute independently to homolog pairing and stable juxtaposition during meiosis in budding yeast
Article Abstract:
A study is carried out on the two modes of the meiotic recombination pathway and meiotic telomere reorganization that contribute to the pairing and close juxtaposition of homologous chromosomes in budding yeast. The findings shows that intermediate in the DSB repair pathway leading to both crossover recombination products contribute independently to close, stable juxtaposition (CSHJ), a measurable state of homolog pairing.

Cdc28-Clbs (CDK-S) and Cdc7-Dbf4 (DDK) collaborate to initiate meiotic recombination in yeast
Article Abstract:
The phosphorylation of Mer2 Ser30, a meiosis-specific double-strand break (DSB) protein, by CDK-S primes Mer2 and subsequent phosphorylation by DDK on Ser29, creating a negatively charged "patch" is necessary for DSB formation. Results show that coordination between premeiotic S and DSB formation is achieved by using CDK-S and DDK to initiate both processes.

The Mus81 solution to resolution: generating meiotic crossovers without holliday junctions
Article Abstract:
The discovery of Mus81 has raised the possibility that cells have evolved at least two ways for generating COs, the class I pathway, which follows the paradigm of intact Hj resolution, and the Class II pathway, which may not. This variation of choice is argued to be different with different organisms.
