Multiple trait analysis of genetic mapping for quantitative trait loci
Article Abstract:
Multiple trait analysis on mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) can be performed on the basis of the composite interval mapping method. This joint analysis generally has three advantages: the statistical power of detecting QTL is increased by this joint analysis; the precision of parameter estimation can be improved by this joint analysis; and, most important, the joint analysis provides appropriate procedures to test a number of biologically interesting hypotheses involving multiple traits.

Maximum likelihood mapping of quantitative trait loci using full-sib families
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate a maximum likelihood method for determining quantitative trait loci (QTL) using flanking markers in full-sib families. The method applies a random component for common family effects due to new QTL or environment. A constant total number of full sibs reduces detection powers accompanied by reduced family size. Analysis also shows that flanking markers had more impact than single markers.

Mapping quantitative trait loci controlling milk production in dairy cattle by exploiting progeny testing
Article Abstract:
The quantities trait loci (QTL), which form the basis of the genetic variation of milk production in dairy cattle population, are mapped using the technique of 'progeny testing.' The technique involves the genotyping for 159 autosomal micro satellites in the bovine genome. The mapping enables the identification of five chromosomes, which indicate the presence of a QTL mechanism.
