Nitric oxide regulates cell proliferation during Drosophila development
Article Abstract:
Nitric oxide (NO) serves as an antiproliferative agent during Drosophila development as it maintains the balance between cell proliferation and cell differentiation, thus controlling the size of body structures. NO synthase is found to be expressed at high levels in developing imaginal discs. Its inhibition in larvae leads to hypertrophy of organs and their segments in adult flies, while ectopic expression of NOS in larvae produces the opposite effect. Inhibition of apoptosis in eye imaginal disks reveals surplus cell proliferation and results in an increase in ommatidia and component cells of individual ommatidia.

Regulation of multimers via truncated isoforms: a novel mechanism to control nitric-oxide signaling
Article Abstract:
Nitric oxide (NO) is created in the animal cells with the help of NO syntheses (NOS) and it is extremely important to regulate the formation of Drosophila. A novel system is formed in which truncated isoforms hold back the antiproliferative act of drosophila NOS (DNOS) in view of the imaginal disc, resulting in the retinoblastoma depending on the pathway selected.

Hippo signaling in organ size control
Article Abstract:
The growth regulatory mechanism called Hippo (Hpo) pathway present in Drosophila shows presence of highly conserved components. The Hpo pathway consists of several negative growth regulators that switch off Yorkie, the transcriptional coactivator thus regulating the cell growth and development.
