Nucleosome displacement in transcription
Article Abstract:
Nucleosome displacement occurs during transcription and requires the interaction between DNA, histones and transcription factors such as RNA polymerases and regulatory factors. However, other factors may be involved in the removal of histones during nucleosome displacement, including nucleoplasmin, N1, chromatin assembly factor I, and yeast SWI1-SWI3 gene products. The roles of these factors in nucleosome displacement are discussed.

A subset of TAF(sub II)s are integral components of the SAGA complex required for nucleosome acetylation and transcriptional stimulation
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to identify the components of the Spt-Ada-Gcn5-acetyltransferase complex via the purification of the complex derived from 'S. cerevisiae.' Specific components were unearthed using mass spectrometry. Results showed the existence of TAF(sub II) proteins in the complex. It was found that certain TAF proteins control gene expression at chromatin modification levels.

Transcription factors prominently in Lasker Award to Roeder
Article Abstract:
This article discusses and recognizes the significance of the pioneering contributions of Robert G Roeder to the field of transcription in the form of discovering three forms of eukaryotic RNA polymerases involved in transcription. It also recognizes the award of Lasker Award to Roeder for his discovery and followup work on the regulation of gene transcription.
