Occurrence of sep insecticidal toxin complex genes in Serratia spp. and Yersinia frederiksenii
Article Abstract:
Evidence for the putative mobility of the sep genes of Serratia spp. plasmid pADAP is described. Analysis showed that orthologues of the sep genes reside on plasmids within S. entomophila, S. liquefaciens, S. proteancuals, and a plasmid form Yersinia frederiksenii indicating that these genes are part of a discrete horizontally mobile region.

Trehalose biosynthesis in Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii and its role in desiccation tolerance
Article Abstract:
The role of endogenous trehalose synthesis in desiccation tolerance in Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii strain NZP561 was investigated. The results indicate that accumulated trehalose plays an important role in protecting R. leguminosarum bv. trifolii cells against desiccation stress and against stress encountered during nodulation.

Virulence of Serratia strains against Costelytra zealandica
Article Abstract:
Study was conducted to show that Serratia strains tested had a high virulence against larvae of the New Zealand grass grub Costelytra zealandica when injected directly into the hemocoel. Toxicity was independent of the presence or absence of the amber disease-causing plasmid pADAP, suggesting a generalized Serratia strains.
