Overexpression of SIS2, which contains an extremely acidic region, increases the expression of SW14, CLN1 and CLN2 in sit4 mutants
Article Abstract:
Presence of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae SIS2 gene on a high copy number plasmid enhances the growth rate of Sit4 mutants. The rate of CLN1, CLN2, CLB5 and SWI4 expression in Sit4 mutants is increased by the overexpression of SIS2 having an extremely acidic carboxyl terminal region. During late G1 phase of the cell cycle, overexpression of SIS2 improves the rate of CLN1 and CLB5 RNA accumulation. Mechanistic study suggests an interaction between SIS2 and chromatin during the stimulation of transcription.

Conflict between feminizing sex ratio distorters and an autosomal masculinizing gene in the terrestrial isopod Armadillidium vulgare Latr
Article Abstract:
All Armadillidum vulgare individuals are genetic males as dictated by the sex-determinant chromosome. The determination for female sex is imparted by parasitic sex factors, F or f, in Armadillidum. However, there is a dominant autosomal gene, M, which has a masculinizing effect. It can override the effectof the f factor but can only delay the expression of feminine traits due to F. M genetic frequency and its effect on the sex ratio in wild populations are discussed.
