Phosphorylation and functions of the RNA polymerase II CTD
Article Abstract:
The proteins known to associate with the phosphorylated C-terminal repeat domain (PCTD) at the beginning and ends of genes and the proposal that doubly phosphorylated repeats are present on elongating polymerase are explored. It is learnt that The CTD of actively transcribing RNAPII is phosphorylated at multiple sites and during the process of RNA chain synthesis the PTCD orchestrates formation of a megacomplex that is linked to RNAPII.

Gene-specific requirement for P-TEFb activity and RNA polymerase II phosphorylation within the p53 transcriptional program
Article Abstract:
High-resolution chromatin immunoprecipitation assays (ChIP) evidence is presented that p53 target gene p21(super CIP1) is regulated by stress at post-initiation step through conversion of paused RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) into an elongating form. Thus select genes within the p53 pathway bypass the requirements for P-TEFb and RNAP II phosphorylation to trigger a cellular response to inhibition of global mRNA synthesis.
