Phosphorylation-dependent maturation of Neurospora circadian clock protein from a nuclear repressor toward a cytoplasmic activator
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to show that the conflicting functions of frequency (FRQ) are confined to distinct subcellular compartments, coordinated in temporal fashion and regulated by phosphorylation of FRQ. The results showed that the progressive phosphorylation of FRQ in the course of a circadian period triggers its gradual maturation to a cytoplasmic activator.

Transcriptional feedback of Neurospora circadian clock gene by phosphorylation-dependent inactivation of its transcription factor
Article Abstract:
The evidence that Frequency (FRQ) regulates the bulk of white collar complex (WCC) through modulation of its phosphorylation status rather than via direct complex formation is reported. It is proposed that the negative feedback in the circadian clock Neurospora is mediated by FRQ.

Transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of the circadian clock of cynobacteria and Neurospora
Article Abstract:
The mechanism of clock function in cynobacteria is briefly presented. A detailed discussion of the contribution of transcriptional feedback and protein phosphorylation is presented to various functional aspects of the circadian clock of Neurospora crassa.
