Phylogenetic relationship of the cinnamon tyrant, Neopipo Cinnamomea, to the tyrant flycatchers (Tyrannidae)
Article Abstract:
The connection of Neopipo Cinnmomea to the Empidonax class of tyrant flycatchers was investigated. The study subscribes to the view that Neopipo is not a member of the Pipridae, where it has been previously placed, and suggests that Neopipo cinnamomea should be known as Cinnamon Tyrant and be included in the Myiophobus group within the Empidonax assemblage of the Tyrannidae. The study contradicts the hypothesis that Neopipo cinamomea is noticeably convergent with the tyrannid Myiobius erythrus. Some resemblances in plumage between these species are clearly homologous traits which evolved in the radiation of the Myiophobus group.

Phylogenetic relationships among North American grouse inferred from restriction endonuclease analysis of mitochondrial DNA
Article Abstract:
A research study used the restriction enzyme analysis of mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid approach to infer phylogenetic relationships among grouse in North America. The phylogeny was used to test hypotheses and study the complex reproductive behaviors and morphological features of grouse and ptarmigans. The molecular phylogeny showed that the tetraonines' complex reproductive systems develop independently. The behavioral and morphological specializations could evolve in a similar manner.

Phylogenetic reanalysis of Strauch's osteological data set for the Charadriiformes
Article Abstract:
Analysis of 74 taxa from the revised matrix of J.G. Strauch's phylogenetic inference characters helped recognize five sandpiper lineages, including tringine, calidrine and phalarope sandpipers. Among other clarifications, the reexamination aided in defining the similarities between dowitchers and godwits.
