Physiological studies of cortical spreading depression
Article Abstract:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to study the changes in cerebral blood volume and in apparent water diffusion co-efficient (ADC) accompanying cortical spreading depression (CSD) in whole lissencephalic brains. The CSD phenomenon has a possible translational significance for human migraine aura and other cerebral pathologies such as the peri-infarct depolarization events that follow ischaemia and brain injury.

Cellulose microfibril angle in the cell wall of wood fibers
Article Abstract:
The organization of the cellulose component of the secondary wall of fibers and tracheids and the various methods that have been used for the measurement of microfibril angle (MFA) is described. The ability of the tree to vary MFA in response to environmental stress, particularly in reaction wood is also discussed.
