Posttranscriptional control of gene expression in yeast
Article Abstract:
The distinct posttranscriptional control pathways of the yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, were investigated to explain the correlations between the mechanisms involved in posttranscriptional control and their thermodynamic and kinetic effects at the molecular level. The pathways of translation control in eukaryotes and prokaryotes were compared to differentiate the two systems. It was discovered that regulation of gene expression was possible by varying the process of messenger RNA decay through coupling between mRNA turnover and translation.

Phi29 family of phages
Article Abstract:
This review discusses the phage phi29 group of lytic phages of the Podoviridae family with respect to molecular mechanisms of DNA replication, transcription regulation, phage morphogenesis, and phage DNA packaging exemplified by the phi29 phage. An integrated overview of the homologies and differences in the three groups of the phi29 genus is presented.

Functional interactions between a phage histone-like protein and a transcriptional factor in regulation of phi29 early-late transcriptional switch
Article Abstract:
This article explores the role of DNA binding protein p6 and its regulation of the viral switch between early transcription and late transcription. Interaction of protein p6 with regulatory protein p4 to repress the early A2b and A2c promoters and activate the late A3 promoter is described.
