Powerful multilocus tests of genetic association in the presence of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions
Article Abstract:
A multilocus test of genetic association is proposed, which can account for genetic effects that might be modified by variants in other genes or by environmental factors. The powerful advantages of this method is demonstrated both in analysis of data from a case-control study of the association between colorectal adenoma and DNA variants in the NAT2 genomic region that are well known to be related to a common biological phenotype and under different models of gene-gene interactions with use of simulated data.

Cis- and trans-acting gene regulation is associated with osteoarthritis
Article Abstract:
A study to identify novel genes associated with osteoarthritis, concentrating on regulatory polymorphisms allowing for differential expression is presented. The absence of allelic expression imbalances suggests that BLP2 and CIAS1 may be trans-regulated and the presence of allelic imbalances confirms cis-regulatory mechanisms for RHOB and TXNDC3.

Exact test of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and homogeneity of disequilibrium across strata
Article Abstract:
An exact stratified test is developed for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) for diallelic markers, such as single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and an exact test for homogeneity of Hardy-Weinberg disequilibrium. These new methods are found to be useful for samples composed of multiple ethnic groups.
