Production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies against vegetative cells of Bacillus cereus
Article Abstract:
Two monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), 8D3 and 9B7, against vegetative cells of Bacillus cereus have been produced and characterized. The MAbs were selected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for their reactivity with the cells. They did not recognize the spores of the organism. Molecular masses were about 58 and 62 kDa for the two antigens MAb 9B7 recognized. Together the two MAbs can perhaps be used to develop an immunological method to detect B. cereus vegetative cells in foods.

Antimicrobial properties of garlic oil against human enteric bacteria: evaluation of methodologies and comparisons with garlic oil sulfides and garlic powder
Article Abstract:
Research shows that gram-positive, gram-negative, and pathogenic bacteria are all susceptible to garlic oil and garlic oil materials. Antimicrobial activity was lower in media containing cysteine or tryptone, indicating that the effects of garlic oil may depend on sulfhydryl reactivity.
