Physical map of the chromosome of Aeromonas salmonicida and genomic comparisons between Aeromonas strains
Article Abstract:
The physical and genetic maps of Aeromonas salmonicida A449 were constructed using PFGE and Southern blotting analysis. Results showed that the known virulence-factor encoding genes were unclustered. The homogeneity of typical strains was observed after comparing the I-Ceul genomic digestion fingerprints of several typical and atypical strains of A. salmonicida. Although a clonality was observed in the strains isolated from diseased goldfish, an extensive diversity was also seen in the I-Ceul digestion fingerprint of atypical strains.

Cloning of the haemocin locus of Haemophilus influenzae type b and assessment of the role of haemoci in virulence
Article Abstract:
Most type b encapsulated strains of Haemophilus influenzae produce the bacteriocin haemocin (HMC) which is toxic to most non-type b strains of H. influenzae. HMC production is likely to involve several genes, and the cloning and characterization of hmcI the HMC immunity gene has previously been described. Four more open ready frames upstream of hmcI have been identified, thought to be involved in HMC production.
