Production of specifically labeled compounds by Methanobacterium espanolae grown on H2-CO2 plus (13C)acetate
Article Abstract:
The utilization of Methanobacterium espanolae for the production of specifically labeled compounds is discussed. The presence of an incomplete tricarboxylic acid pathway that operates in a reductive direction was determined by carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of protein hydrolysates from cultures grown on acetate. These properties of the methanogen provides it with the advantages for the production of specifically labeled compounds.

Overproduction of L-lysine from methanol by Methylobacillus glycogenes derivatives carrying a plasmid with a mutated dapA gene
Article Abstract:
Researchers succeeded in overproducing L-lysine from methanol in a methylotroph by amplifying the dapA gene in the L-lysine and L-threonine-coproducing mutant DHL119. The dapA gene codes for dihydrodipicolinate synthase, the regulatory enzyme at the branch point of L-lysine and L-threonine synthesis.

Dephosphorylation of phytate by using the Aspergillus niger phytase with a high affinity for phytate
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to purify and characterize phytase enzyme from Aspergillus niger. The purified enzyme shows a mass of approximately 60 kDa with a high affinity for phytate.
