Kinetics of acetate oxidation by two sulfate reducers isolated from anaerobic granular sludge
Article Abstract:
Acetate oxidation in freshwater sulfate reducers Desulforhabdus amnigenus and Desulfobacca acetoxidans was investigated. The sulfate reducers were isolated from anaerobic granular sludge collected from bioreactors in which acetate was converted via sulfate reduction. Results showed that both sulfate reducers apparently predominate over Methanosaeta spp. for acetate in acetate-fed anaerobic bioreactors.
