Reduced density due to logging and its consequences on mating system and pollen flow in the African mahogany Entandrophragma cylindricum
Article Abstract:
The pollination patterns of the African mahogany, Entandrophragma cylindricum (Sapelli), are studied and two plots in Cameroon are investigated corresponding to three tree densities. The results have indicated extensive pollen flow in Sapelli and hence the main limiting factor for regeneration after logging might be a reduction in the number of trees capable of producing seeds rather than genetic effects due to limits to pollen dispersal.

Two-generation analysis of pollen flow across a landscape V: a stepwise approach for extracting factors contributing to pollen structure
Article Abstract:
The extent to which the ecological, demographic and environmental factors influence the genetic variation in spatially separated pollen pools are explained. The ways in which the Stepwise Analysis of MOlecular VAriance (StAMOVA) can be applied to remove the effects of spatial adult genetic structure on pollen pool differentiations are discussed.

Measuring the genetic structure of the pollen pool as the probability of paternal identity
Article Abstract:
The measurement of pollen flow in forest plant species by the probability of paternal identity (PPI) is discussed using an indirect and a direct approach. The results reveal the direct approach is appropriate where a large majority of fathers can be identified, while the indirect approach is biased and unbiased.
