Growth, copper-tolerant cells, and extracellular protein production in copper-stressed chemostat cultures of Vibrio alginolyticus
Article Abstract:
The recovery of Vibrio alginolyticus from copper toxicity and the production of copper-binding proteins given a copper-stressed continuous culture is discussed. Experiments involved the assessment of the effect of copper on the growth of V. alginolyticus, the amount of copper-resistant cells and the production of extracellular protein producion in continuous culture. Itwas found that V. alginolyticus can recover from copper toxicity as extracellular copper-binding proteins were also produced.

Improved isolation of Vibrio vulnificus from seawater and sediment with cellobiose-colistin agar
Article Abstract:
Comparison studies between culture media used in the isolation of Vibrio vulnificus from seawater and sediments were undertaken to determine the effects of colistin and polymixin in the culture medium on the microbial isolation efficiency. Results reveal the the cellobiose-colistin agar medium has a better isolation rate compared to cellobiose-polymixin B-colistin and modified cellobiose-polymixin B-colistin agar.
