Small RNAs just got bigger: Piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) in mammalian testes
Article Abstract:
A new class of small RNAs, those are expressed specially and abundantly in the spermatogenic cells of mice are reported. These are associated with Piwi-sub-clade members of Argonaute protein family and are bigger than the earlier RNAs, and though the biogenesis and function of these is yet to be studied, the findings provide new scope in small RNA biology and germline cell biology.

The Drosha-DGCR8 complex in primary microRNA processing
Article Abstract:
The action mechanism of human Drosha is studied by generating mutants and by characterizing its new interacting partner, DGCR8. Results reveal that by RNAi and biochemical reconstitution, DGCR8 may be an essential component of the pri-microRNA processing complex, along with Drosha.
