Transient depletion of xDnmt1 leads to premature gene activation in Xenopus embryos
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the DNA methylation. The effect of the methylation on the transcriptional silencing before midblastula transition is discussed.

Lashings of DNA methylation, forkfuls of chromatin remodeling
Article Abstract:
Recent plant-animal findings which imply that levels of DNA methylation can be regulated via changes in chromatin conformation are discussed in this perspective article. Chromatin-remodeling proteins may be important components in DNA demethylation activities in the case in which their access to DNA is regulated in a developmental or in a cell-type-specific context. It may be that Lsh, and other proteins not yet known from the same family, are required for maintenance of stable epigenetic states in mammalian cells over many cell generations.

Structural basis of DNA recognition by the heterodimeric cell cycle transcription factore E2F-DP
Article Abstract:
The E2F and DP protein families may contribute to preferring heterodimers more than homodimers in DNA binding. Both protein structures contain folds related to the DNA-binding winged helix motif. Asymmetry in the binding site TTTc/gGCGCc/g is where an arginine binds in a groove near the TTT stretch.
