Termination factor-mediated DNA loop between termination and initiation sites drives mithocondrial rRNA synthesis
Article Abstract:
Addition of termination factor mTERF to a HeLa cell mitochondrial lysate-based reaction mixture containing an artificial rDNA template indeed specifically stimulates rDNA transcription. The results suggest that, to satisfy the need for high rate of rDNA transcription, human mitochondrial rRNA synthesis involves mTERF-mediate rDNA looping that promotes recycling of the transcription machinery.

A checkpoint protein that scans the chromosome for damage at the start of sporulation in Bacillus subtilis
Article Abstract:
The sensing and repair of lesions is critical for Bacillus subtilis cells entering the developmental process of sporulation as damaged DNA may prevent the cells from completing spore morphogenesis. The identification of the protein DNA integrity scanning protein annotated Yack (DisA) is reported, which is required to delay the initiation of sporulation in response to chromosomal damage.
