Testing the robustness of the likelihood-ratio test in a variance-component quantitative-trait loci-mapping procedure
Article Abstract:
Evaluation of the robustness of the likelihood-ratio test is discussed as it relates to a variance-component quantitative-trait loci-mapping procedure. For sib-pair studies the test has been evaluated using simulation and results showed some kinds of nonnormality and type I error-rate inflation apparently directly related to the residual sibling correlation, although multivariate normality is usually assumed.

Allowing for missing parents in genetic studies of case-parent triads
Article Abstract:
Researchers can still obtain viable data even if parent or proband genetic data is unavailable. By using the likelihood-ratio test, researchers are able to complete parent-child genetic triads through the test's expectation-maximization algorithm. The transmission/disequilibrium test, however, would require researchers to abandon the incomplete triad, and risk the elimination of important discoveries.
