p300-Mediated acetylation facilitates the transfer of histone H2A-H2B dimers from nucleosomes to a histone chaperone
Article Abstract:
The transfer of histone H2A-H2B dimers from nucleosomes to a histone chaperone has been found to be helped by p300-mediated acetylation. A purified recombinant chromatin assembly system, including ACF, Acf-1 with ISWI, and NAP-1 was used to look at the role if histone acetylation in ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling. The acetylation was seen to change the structure of nucleosomes that have been remodeled by ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complexes. Transcription from chromatin templates is ordered, sequential, has precise timing with roles for ATP-dependent chromatin specific, as are later histone acetylation and changes in nucleosome structure.

The MeCP1 complex represses transcription through preferential binding, remodeling, and deacetylating methylated nucleosomes
Article Abstract:
The MeCP1 complex has been found to repress transcription. Remodeling, preferential binding, and deacetylating methylated nucleosomes are mechanisms. The MeCP1 complex to homogeneity has been purified as a means to understand the relationship between the MeCP1 complex and the NuRD complex. The study defined the MeCO1 complex and gives biochemical evidence linking nucleosome remodeling and histone deacetylation to methylated gene silencing.

Nucleosomal histone kinase-1 phosphorylates H2A Thr 119 during mitosis in the early drosophila embryo
Article Abstract:
Purification and characterization of nucleosomal histone kinase-1 (NHK-1) is shown. NHK-1-catalyzed phosphorylation of conserved serine/threonine residue in H2A is a new histone code component related to cell cycle progression.
