The Spt6 SH2 domain binds Ser2-P RNAPII to direct Iws1-dependent mRNA splicing and export
Article Abstract:
Study is conducted to show that the mammalian Spt6 binds Ser2-phosphorylated (Ser2P) RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) through a primitive SH2 domain, which recognizes phosphoserine rather than phosphotyrosine residues. A point mutation in the Spt6 SH2 domain (R1358K) blocked binding to RNAPIIo without affecting transcription elongation rates in vitro but HIV-I and c-myc RNAs formed in cells expressing the mutant Spt6 protein were longer than normal and contained splicing defects.

PPAR gamma signaling exacerbates mammary gland tumor development
Article Abstract:
Transgenic mice that expressed a constitutively active form of PPAR gamma in mammary gland is generated to evacuate the therapeutic potential of increased PPAR gamma signaling in vivo. The results indicate that once an initiating event took place, increased PPAR gamma signaling served as a tumor promoter in the mammary gland.

Maternal PPAR [gamma] protects nursing neonates by suppressing the production of inflammatory milk
Article Abstract:
A targeted deletion of PPAR [gamma] in mice results in the production of 'toxic milk' containing high levels of inflammatory lipids is reported. Results show that maternal PPAR [gamma] is vital for the maintenance of the quality of the milk and protecting the nursing newborns.
