The competitiveness of Pseudomonas chlororaphis carrying pJP4 is reduced in the Arabidopsis thaliana rhizosphere
Article Abstract:
Results shows that the transfer efficiency of the catabolic IncP plasmid pJP4 is not affected by quorum sensing and that the solitary rhizosphere colonization by the wild type Pseudomonas chlororaphis SPR244 and SPR644 is not affected by the plasmid. However, the population size of SPR344 is markedly reduced. Furthermore, the plasmid imposes a metabolic burden under biotic stress.

Inactivation of gacS does not affect the competitiveness of Pseudomonas chlororaphis in the Arabidopsis thaliana rhizosphere
Article Abstract:
Research reveals that the population size of the Pseudomonas chlororaphis lacking the sensor kinase coding gene gacS is similar to that of wild-type in the Arabidopsis thaliana rhizosphere due to the reduced production of the stationary-phase-specific sigma factor RpoS. Data suggest that the sensor kinase GacS regulated processes are not essential for rhizosphere colonization.

Identification of Streptomyces coelicolor proteins that are differentially expressed in the presence of plant material
Article Abstract:
Results indicate that 31 proteins in Streptomyces coelicolor are induced or repressed due to the presence of Lemma minor plant material or association. Some of these proteins are involved in energy- and cellular metabolism. Data suggest that root exudates serve as carbon sources to the bacteria, which show physiological adaptations in the presence of plants.
